One of the reasons I thrive when working with Dr. Julie Todd is due to her understanding of the various ways in which we can express and digest our learning. This week, she asked us to write a poem using a prompt. Below is the prompt, followed by my poem.

If I felt free to follow the deepest desires of my heart to serve in this world, I would…

..open a door

a doorway that is accessible, beyond

(white) canes,

but to those who do not see the capital G

the Nones

where spirituality is not a question that must

entangle itself in the-ism

but a love letter to ourselves, nature, mystery, universe

a sensual slow dance with no rush to seduction

just an unfolding of shared sacred spaces

banishing imposter syndrome

for the truth of our worth

replacing scarcity

with an extravagant, wasteful, God-sized amount of

Love

and

Compassion

using a merciful womb and nursing body

to birth a new way forward, together

restoring and transforming

the face of God.
